Helen Howells, Director of Hwylus Cyf, received an early Christmas present in the run up to the festive break, confirmation that she had secured Full Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. IEMA is the professional body for Environmental and Sustainability practitioners, transforming the world to sustainability. She was also awarded Chartered Environmentalist status from the Society of the Environment, which aims to champion Environmental professionals.
“This was great news to get just before Christmas. Gaining Full Member and Chartered status is recognition of a ten year career in the Sustainability sector in Wales,” explained Helen. ” Now was the right time for me to apply for Full Member status of IEMA, as the organisation has recently changed focus, embracing the wider social and economic aspects of Sustainability, to secure a healthy environment now and for future generations”
Following a written submission and interview, assessors at IEMA commended Helen for her mature understanding of Sustainability, having worked on pioneering integrated rural development projects such as the Cambrian Mountains Initiative and securing UNESCO status for the Dyfi Biosphere in mid Wales.
Gaining professional recognition such as Chartered Environmentalist status assures clients of Hwylus Cyf that the advice provided by Helen is robust and can be trusted. To maintain Chartership, Helen commits to Continued Professional Development, ensuring that tools and know-how are kept current.
